Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Technical Group
The Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Technical Group presents multiple awards annually at the AVS International Symposium and Exhibition, including a Student Poster/Presentation Award and a Student Travel Award. These awards are made possible through the generous financial support of J.A. Woollam Co., Inc.
Student Poster/Presentation Award
The Student Poster/Presentation Award is presented at the annual AVS International Symposium and Exhibition. All student participants, including both poster and oral presenters, who present in a Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Technical session are automatically considered. The presenting author must be a graduate or undergraduate student at the time of abstract submission. Candidates will be judged during their presentations and evaluated using a standardized grading rubric. Awards are based on the scientific merit and originality of the research, the student’s contribution, and the quality of the presentation. Poster award candidates must be present during the Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Technical poster session for judging. Each award consists of a certificate and a cash prize. Multiple awards are anticipated.
Student Travel Award
The Student Travel Award is available for the 2026 AVS International Symposium and Exhibition. Graduate and undergraduate students with an accepted abstract who will present in a Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Technical session at the International Symposium are eligible. All accepted abstracts with a student as the presenting author are automatically considered. Multiple awards are anticipated.
