ERIN CLEVELAND received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2010 where she investigated atomic layer deposited (ALD) thin films within the confines of ultra-high aspect ratio nanostructures under the supervision of Dr. Gary Rubloff. She went on to become an ASEE Postdoctoral Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) furthering her work in ALD by developing and optimizing thin films for applications in plasmonics, optoelectronics, and integration with III-V semiconductors.

Dr. Cleveland went on to become a staff research scientist at NRL as a Karle Fellow where she continued to use ALD for surface modification of optoelectronic materials and devices. After eight years at NRL, Dr. Cleveland moved to the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS) to become a program manager for the intersection of materials science and quantum computing.
