PETER DICKENS is a Senior member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories in the Advanced Electronic and Optoelectronic Materials department.  He currently works on thin film deposition of BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 for applications in both electric field mitigation of wide-bandgap devices and low loss silicon photonics.  Recently he has worked on the epitaxial growth of MgO-CaO alloys on GaN, AlGaN, and SiC by both molecular beam epitaxy and pulsed laser deposition for application as a gate dielectric on enhancement mode transistors, and he has past experience on the deposition of rare-earth iridates, zinc oxide, and ferrite based perovskites for use in MEMS devices. Previously, he worked on the growth of bulk single crystal oxides using the Czochralski method, and characterized their atomic defects and luminescent properties while pursuing his PhD in Material Science at Washington State University.  His current research interests include the use of ultra-high k materials for passivation and electric field modulation, growth of cubic boron nitride, and the use of positron annihilation spectroscopy for identification of vacancy formation in MEMS devices.
