The technical structure of AVS is organized as a matrix. Members can participate in one or more Divisions or Technical Groups, each of which is focused around a major topical area. Members may also participate in Chapters and Student Chapters, which are regional organizations that focus on local area needs.

2019


David Beverstock, Jefferson Laboratory, was the Vacuum Technology Division 2019 Student Presenter Award Winner. He received his award for the presentation of the “Characterization of NbTiN thin film structures” at AVS 66 in Columbus, OH. The prize was given by Jacob Ricker (left) and James Fedchak (right).


Derek Hammar, Coe College, receives the 2019 Student Poster Award by the Vacuum Technology Division Student Award Coordinator, Jim Fedchak for his poster presentation of “Modeling of NEG pump performance during saturation”.

2013


Jay Hendricks (VTD Student Award Coordinator/IUVSTA VSTD Chair) congratulates Zhaozhu Li at AVS-60. Zhaozhu won the Vacuum Technology Division Student Presenter Award for her presentation entitled “Photocathode Materials Able to Sustain High Currents” at the 60th AVS International Symposium and Exhibition was judged the best among vacuum technology student presenters.


2012



The Vacuum Technology Division held its annual “Student‐Built Vacuum System Poster Competition” on October 30th, 2012 during the AVS59 Tampa Symposium. Makfir Sefa of LOTRIC Metrology and Laboratory of Pressure Metrology at the Institute of Metals and Technology, Slovenia, was awarded the First Place prize of $500 for his poster entitled, “Investigation of a Method for Measurement of Water Vapor Coverage on Technical Surfaces”.
 


The Second Place winner, Shimizu Hideyuki of Gakushuin University, Japan, was awarded a $200 prize for his poster “An Application of Electron Stimulated Desorption Technique to Measure the Isotherm and the Mean Residence Time of Hydrogen Physisorbed on a Metal Surface”.

 

2010
