DESCRIPTION:Since we are unable to hold our traditional in-person symposium this fall, we hope you will be able to take your lunchbreak with MN-AVS and enjoy our upcoming seminar series.  Our first seminar will take place on Thursday November 12 from Noon - 1 pm.  Details below.\n\n"The study of perovskite solar cell performance heterogeneities at the nanoscale"\nDr. Beth Tennyson\nMarie Currie Fellow, Cambridge University\n\nAbstract: The functionality of halide perovskite solar cells at the micro- and nanoscales is heterogeneous, and it is critical to determine how the local electrical and chemical properties affect overall photovoltaic (PV) efficiency. In this presentation, we begin by showing a variety of nanoscale microscopy methods applied to perovskite semiconductors to analyze the local performance of the material. These results reveal that the perovskite’s nanoscale voltage response depends on its chemical composition, the perovskite's charge carrier dynamics depend on the incident photon energy (i.e. wavelength), and that altered chemical properties due to the inclusion of potassium additives impacts the electrical response in three dimensions. Further, we measure the photon out-coupling of a perovskite material on an underlying c-Si textured design (for multi-junction solar cell device applications) and discover a spectral and spatial dependence of the geometrical patterning which dominates the perovskite typical grain-to-grain radiative recombination variation.
