ANTHONY MUSCAT is a Professor in the Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering at the University of Arizona. He received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of California, Davis (1983) and a Ph.D. also in chemical engineering from Stanford University (1993). Anthony did postdocs in the Department of Physics at the Université Laval in Québec City, Canada and in the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT. He also spent a sabbatical year at the Interuniversity MicroElectronics Center (IMEC) and Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Katholic University, Leuven, Belgium. His research interest is surface chemistry. He works on the cleaning and passivation of semiconductor surfaces. His group uses different ligands and chemistries to synthesize nanomaterials that self-assemble or demonstrate unique properties. He served as an Associate Editor (2008-14) and is currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Within AVS he organized and chaired the Novel Processes and Devices Session at the AVS Conference on Microelectronics and Interfaces (2004-05), and served as Executive Committee Member (2009-10), Vice-Program Chair (2011), Program Chair (2012), and Division Chair (2013) of the Electronic Materials and Processing Division (EMPD). As part of EMPD, he co-founded the Industrial Forums held yearly at the AVS International Symposium which are designed to introduce early career researchers to company R&D. He served as the Vice-Program Chair for AVS-61 (2014) and is putting the finishing touches on the AVS-62 program where he serves as Program Chair (2015).
